DARWIN PRIDE FESTIVAL NOW IN MAY 2014 TO COINCIDE WITH THE OUT GAMES CELEBRATION’S
The dazzling sights, sounds and festivities of the annual Darwin Pride Festival will not be seen in Darwin this November in 2013 with the Darwin Pride Festival Committee making the tough decision not to proceed with this year’s festival.
In Its long history, the Darwin Pride Festival has welcomed the wet season in the Top End with a unique celebration of pride and all the reasons we have be proud.
‘As a committee we had to sit down and seriously consider if we, as volunteers, have the capacity to deliver the high standard of festival that we, and our community, has become accustomed to in previous years,’ says James, festival spokesperson.
‘The Festival requires an enormous amount of time, energy and dedication from all members of the volunteer Committee and this year the committee made the decision to put all its time and energy into our plans for Darwin’s Out Games Pride Event’s in May 2014.
‘We had to think long and hard about what was best of us as the Committee, the Festival and our Community and it was decided that we’re not in a position to be able to offer two programs of events in a 6month period that would do justice to our guiding vision, purpose, values and goals.’
‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Partners, Sponsors and Supports for their ongoing support for the Festival because without their generosity we would not have made it this far.’
